How to Quickly Find Experts via Blogs
Blogs are free to search, and they are a great source for passive candidates. Now that the amazing Blog CheatSheet has been released, find out from the authors themselves how best to use these breakthrough tips for sourcing passive candidates from blogs. Shally and Glenn will show you how you can apply these guaranteed methods to improve your search results and competitive intelligence. Discover simple formulas and examples that you can use even with your toughest requirements. Blogs can be a wealth of information about companies, tools, industry trends and co-workers. This webinar will help you get the most out of the Blog CheatSheet, and show you how to tap into these communities!
Example of what we will cover:
You can search blogs for name generation and competitive intelligence, not just resumes. Bloggers reveal what they do, companies and tools they like and work with, industry trends, their peers and co-workers (both in the body of posts and in their Blogroll (a links list of blogs they like).
There are over 70 different hacks and search techniques in our Advanced Blog CheatSheet. One of them is to search Google with action words people use when describing what they do for a living. Combining that with the power of the tilde ~ along with the intitle: and inurl: field syntax helps idenitify resumes attached to blogs. For example, if seeking Sarbanes-Oxley auditors you could use:
auditor SOX (built | created | designed | worked) (intitle:~blog | inurl:~blog) ~cv -job -jobs -send -submit -you
The above results in about 100 pages (depending on your Google preferences and the server you use). We eliminate most non-resume terms from results by preceding keywords with the minus sign or - (single dash), which is the NOT Boolean e.g., -job -you
You can modify this for your own needs by replacing "auditor SOX" with your search keywords, which ideally should be job titles, company names and/or skill related jargon. If the words you seek are 2+ word phrases, surround them with quotation marks, e.g., "business analyst" or "business systems analyst."
Try these other examples as well:
- "software engineer" Symbian (built | created | designed | worked) (intitle:~blog | inurl:~blog) ~cv -job -jobs -send -submit -you
- "project manager" "Cisco systems" (built | created | designed | worked) (intitle:~blog | inurl:~blog) ~cv -job -jobs -send -submit -you
